The “San Donato” group
The “San Donato” group (founded in 2008 in Kaliningrad) is a union of three artists – Oleg Blyablyas, Evgeny Umansky and Alexey Chebykin. Each working individually in different genres and techniques, as a group the artists are searching for a different experience of cooperation and co-creation. Their area of interest is art in public spaces and the study of social contexts. They work primarily with context and object installations, which, by virtue of invading the existing artefacts or turning the existing reality into such, reformat the reality. The art works of the group were presented at such exhibitions as “MONSTERS — Men, Murderers, Mighty Machines”, Dresden, Germany (2008); festival “Contemporary art in a traditional museum”, Saint Petersburg, Russia (2009); international competition “Tower Kronprinz: Second Advent”, Kaliningrad, Russia (2009); international contemporary art festival “Art-ZAvod”, Ekaterinburg, Russia (2009); Vth International symposium “Alanica 2011”, Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia (2011); “A Complicated Relation, part II”, Kalmar, Sweden (2011); “Port city: there is no sea here” in the framework of the IVth Moscow biennale of contemporary art, Ekaterinburg, Russia (2011). The group’s object installation “Liberation” was installed on the territory of the Kaliningrad zoo in the framework of the Kaliningrad museum project “Night of Museums” and the European Museum Night (2012).
