Benas Šarka (born in 1963). Actor and stage director. Having graduated from the Faculty of Arts at Klaipėda University where he studied stage directing, he founded the „Gliukų“ theatre, so called “Theatre troops”, and became the soul of this creative unit that does not have a permanent cast. Since the beginning of his career, he has created more than 30 theatre and movement performances and projects, took part in more than 30 theatre, street theatre, and experimental arts festivals. The plays and performances created by B. Šarka do not fit into conventional theatre model; their distinct features – unconventional structure, unexpected methods and means of expression, venues, props, real risk and extreme approach. Lives and works in Klaipėda.
